Invitation Styles
Here at Babydoll we consider ourselves experts on all things Wedding Stationery. However we know that all of the different styles and options can be a little confusing at times, so with this in mind we've put together a bit of an overview of the different styles of invitations available with some pretty pictures for examples - hope this helps!.
The Flat Card
The flat card tends to be the most inexpensive option and is often chosen as an evening invitation but can also work just as well as a day invitation too. It is always made up of double or triple layered card so despite it's relative inexpense it still gives a real feel of quality.

The Classic Fold
The classic fold does exactly what it says on the tin! The most classic of designs which folds in the same way as a menu would. Works well for both day and evening invitations. Available in various shapes and sizes.

The Booklet
The booklet is a new idea which is fast becoming one of our most popular choices. It offers great practicality and probably gives you the most flexibility of all the styles. It is designed in exacty the same way as the Classic Fold but instead of a menu it takes on more of a "book" feel. Squarer in shape and offering 4 pages inside which you can use for whatever information you want to give your guests - pretty handy eh?
Typically the layout goes like this: first page would be the actual invitation details, second and third pages would be "Further Information" pages where you can list directions, local hotels, gift list/dress code details and the final page would be dedicated to RSVP details. Here you could list a postal address, telephone number or even an e mail address to which your guests can confirm their attendance to the big day.
The booklet is a great choice if you have a lot of information to pass on to your guests. It can also be a very cost effective choice as it eliminates the need for RSVP cards and seperate Information Cards. It is a good choice if you intend to invite the same guests for both the day and evening receptions.

The Gatefold
A Gatefold is when the front left and right sides of the invitation fold inward and meet in the middle without overlapping. This style tends to be the choice of those looking for something a little bit different - and why not!. It works well as both a day and evening invitation.

The Pocket
The pocket is a square or rectangular invitation in which the invitation sits as a seperate piece. Your guest would remove the invitation form inside the pocket to read and then place back inside to keep. Pockets are ideal if you intend to purchase RSVP cards as they can sit neatly within the pocket holding everything together nicely.

The Wallet
The Wallet is, by far, the best selling style of all - our couples just LOVE it. It opens up to reveal a compartment in which, typically, the RSVP card and Information Card sit. It is a very practical design yet also incredibly stylish given that the fully co-ordinated RSVP and additional cards are on full display adding to the overall design of the invitation. The wallet is definitely the most luxurious of the invitation styles and is time and time again the most requested.
